With another two points last night, Connor McDavid is trying to will his team past the second round for the first time since 2006. In only nine games so far in these playoffs, the 25-year-old has already tallied 20 points. This is the best statistical offensive start to a post-season in thirty years, surpassing Mario Lemieux (1992) and Jake Guentzel (2018).

This is McDavid's seventh season in the National Hockey League. He has already won the Art Ross Trophy and Ted Lindsay Award three times each, plus the Hart Trophy twice. However, this is only the second time McDavid has played in the second round, and had only played in four playoff series prior to this year.

Clearly, McDavid is sick of losing and has found another level when his team needs him most. Despite the lack of previous playoff success, McDavid has already proven he is a playoff performer. His 42 points in his first 30 career playoff games has him tied (along with teammate Leon Draisaitl) for the sixth most points all-time in any players first 30 career playoff games.

McDavid and Draisaitl currently sit first and second this post-season in points with twenty and fifteen, respectively. The Oilers will need the power duo to continue their dominance if they want to push past the high powered Flames. The series is now headed back to Edmonton tied, with game three set for tomorrow night at 8 pm.
