Both Pano Fimis and Avery Hayes were invites to the 2022 Leafs development camp and have now followed Kyle Dubas to Pittsburgh in the hopes of earning, at minimum, AHL contracts. Both were expected to sign contracts with the Leafs at one point, but with limited contract slots and average development camps, neither were able to secure a deal. The 19-year-old Fimis has spent the past 3 seasons in the OHL with the Niagara IceDogs and Erie Otters where he has put up 61 points in 109 games while Hayes, 20, has spent the past 4 seasons in the OHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Peterborough Petes where he has collected 203 points in 237 games.
The Penguins also added forwards, Atley Calvert, Sam Houde, Jagger Joshua, Max Namestnikov, Matt Soto and Evan Vierling along with defensemen Mathis Aguilar, Andre Anania, Ty Higgins, Justin Lee and Cole Moberg and goaltender Mike Simpson.
