Edmonton Oilers power-forward, Evander Kane, didn't mince his words after their 7-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night when he directed a few shots towards Leafs forward, Michael Bunting. Kane was quoted as saying "He likes to dive and embellish. We want to get that out of the game." Sounds like the pot calling the kettle black with Kane not having the cleanest track record on the ice either.

Kane's allegations stemmed after an altercation between both players during the third period with the Leafs leading 5-3. They started hacking as Bunting was exiting his own zone when Kane made a beeline towards the Leafs forward. They started getting physical from the Leafs zone all the way to the Oilers zone with the referees letting them go after each other. They were wrestling the whole way and things escalated until the referees finally blew their whistle to call the play dead. Both players finally went at it in front of the Oilers goaltender, toppling down to the ice and having the referees separate them both.

Kane had a first period penalty for tripping called against him, while Bunting had a coincidental minor with Ryan McLeod in the second period. For this wrestling match, they were both assessed a double minor for roughing. Kane had a goal and 3 shots on goal in 20:03 tonight versus Bunting who went pointless in only 10:45.

Kane said that "I think it's funny, you want to get these little ticky-tack calls and he likes to dive and embellish which is something you want to get out of the game but they prevent guys from the consequences of those actions."

He finished off by saying: "A lot of the time the refs get in the way. I think fighting is a great deterrent to those types of players and actions. You know, just prevents guys from having to answer the bell like that, he's a perfect example of that."
