It's an incredibly tough break for the Washington Capitals and newly acquired winger Connor Brown, who has reportedly suffered a season-ending ACL injury. The report came from Real Kyper and Bourne's Nick Kypreos on Tuesday, who announced that Brown has undergone successful surgery and was not likely to return this year.

Brown was originally acquired by the Capitals from the Ottawa Senators, who underwent a pretty significant transformation this summer. The Caps paid a 2nd round pick in 2024 for the 28-year-old winger.

The Toronto native spent 4 seasons with his hometown Leafs from 2015-2019 and was dealt to the Ottawa Senators as a sweetener in the Nikita Zaitsev deal. He had 39 points in 64 games for the Sens last season.

Brown was limited to just 4 games for the Caps this year and suffered the injury on October 17th against the Vancouver Canucks. Brown took just 18 shifts and was limited to 11:44 in the contest. An awful stroke of bad luck here for both Brown and the Caps. Brown is slated to become a UFA this summer.
