Tonight's game between the Florida Panthers and New York Islanders featured a solid tilt between former Leaf Matt Martin and Panthers winger Givani Smith. In this case, it wasn't a hit or a scrum that started things off. This was simply two tough customers squaring off.

Standing at 6'3 and weighing in at 220 lbs, Martin is well known as a tough customer in the NHL. With over 100 fights in his NHL career and a whopping 3,517 hits, he's solidified himself as a heavyweight by all metrics.

Smith is still working his way into the NHL. Drafted by Detroit, he's played 85 games over his first 3 seasons in the NHL. The 24 year old stands at 6'2 and knows how to throw all 214 lbs of himself around. In 49 games with the Red Wings last season, he put up 14 points and 108 PIM. Friday's game was Smith's first with the Panthers after a 3 way trade sent him from Detroit to the Panthers.
