For once, goaltending doesn't seem like an area of concern in Toronto thanks to Ilya Samsonov and Matt Murray combining to provide the Leafs with largely solid goaltending this season. Last season, even average goaltending might have been enough to get the Leafs over the hump and beyond the first round, but unfortunately, average goaltending is not what the team got - and as much as we all loved Jack Campbell's personality, I think it was for the best that he moved on to Edmonton.

On that note, Campbell has yet again been wildly inconsistent, even if his January and February have been better than the first half of his season. Unfortunately for Campbell, it was another rough outing last night against the Red Wings. Case in point, this horrendous 1st period tally from Wings defender Mortiz Seider.

Campbell allowed 4 goals on just 23 shots last night, posting a 3.75 GAA and .826 SV% in a 5-4 overtime loss to the 21st place Red Wings. Thankfully for the Oilers, they have played well enough over their last 13 games (9-1-3) to build up a 5-point cushion over the Flames and the Wild for the top Wild Card spot. If the Oilers want to hang onto that spot though, they'll need Campbell to avoid performances like this one or run the risk of losing valuable points and allowing one of their competitors to swoop in and bump them from their current playoff spot.
