Former NHL coach Marc Crawford is in hot water once again. In 2019, Crawford faced allegations of physical and verbal abuse from several players while he was their coach. Now, he's under investigation again after using a homophobic slur during a National League game.
The incident happened during a matchup where the ZSC Lions, the team Auston Matthews played a season for in 2015-2016, and the team Crawford currently coaches, were trailing by a goal against EHC Biel in Switzerland. In the heat of the game's final seconds, Crawford expressed his frustrations at Finnish referee Mikko Kaukokari inappropriately.
From the clips in the tweets above, it's obvious why Crawford is no longer coaching in the NHL.
Not only are Crawford's comments inappropriate, but they also show how mistreated game officials can be. Nothing was done during that game. However, the slur was caught on camera, and now Crawford could face the consequences as a result.
