"I'm a little disappointed in the Panthers. They're a soft team. Instead of trying to get autographs on the ice with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, they should probably check them a little bit harder," Tkachuk said as he called out the Panthers play of late, particularly because they are currently battling for the final Wild Card spot.
If it wasn't for Alex Lyon, the Panthers would have lost that game, it's as simple as that. Matthews, Marner and the rest of the Leafs dominated the play all night, outshooting the Cats 40-29. Lyon also made an excellent save on Matthews in overtime. Matthew Tkachuk was held off the score sheet in over 20 minutes of ice time, landed only 1 hit and did not block any shots. He did, however, fire 3 shots on goal.
As it turns out, even Keith's criticism couldn't motivate his son to be a game-changer last night for the Panthers. Thankfully for Tkachuk and the rest of the team, Lyon was on his game and the Panthers got the two points. They never ask how - just how many.
