With the Leafs up 5-2, Mitch Marner fed Auston Matthews on the fly in the Flyers zone where he then attempted to go between the legs to score. Flyers forward Travis Konecny took exception at the late-game cockiness and threw a hit at Matthews before the two exchanged words and slashes.

Things escalated as Konecny dropped his gloves trying to fight Matthews until Mark Giordano came flying in and tackled Konecny. A scrum ensued that led to Giordano fighting Kevin Hayes before Konecny tried to reengage Matthews. That led to Michael Bunting jumping in and grabbing Konecny from behind and wrestling him to the ice.

So much for the Leafs not being able to stand up for each other or themselves without Wayne Simmonds or Kyle Clifford in the lineup. They showed they can and that they won't back down even if they aren't necessarily the biggest and toughest team.
