Marner is towards the end of his six-year deal, that will have raked in a whopping $65.4M. The elite playmaking winger has been a sixty plus point getter since entering the NHL, and is on pace for yet another 90+ point season. This would be his fourth. If it wasn't for two COVID-shortened seasons, he may very well have six 90-point seasons to his credit.
With Marner being over a point per game player in his career, it raises an important question; will the Leafs find a way to fit Marner into the team's plans after signing Auston Matthews and William Nylander to a combined $24.75M? Marner, like the other stars in Toronto, have expressed the desire to stay and continue calling Toronto home, but can the Leafs afford his asking price?
Per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, Marner's next deal should extend far beyond Nylander's $11.5M AAV. Pagnotta suggested on Tuesday that the superstar winger may eclipse the $13M plateau on his next deal.
We all know that superstars are getting more money today, and many are proving they deserve it due to their game changing abilities. With Tavares' $11M cap hit coming off the books when Marner's $10.9M does, should the Leafs commit $13M or more to Marner? Let us know in the poll below.
