With Ilya Samsonov seemingly appearing to be "the guy" in Toronto, the Leafs will have to find a way to move on from the remaining season of Murray's deal that carries a cap hit of $4.6875M. The play of Woll has also forced the Leafs' hand in this case as he is signed to a team-friendly deal for another two seasons below $800K. Woll will also no longer be waiver exempt beginning next season, which means that the team has a huge decision ahead regarding the oft-injured Murray.
Frank Seravalli was on Leafs Morning Take on Thursday and he believes that the Leafs will move on from Murray in the Leafiest way. He believes that Murray will be placed on LTIR to begin next season and sent to "Robidas Island" where the skeletons of Stephane Robidas, Joffrey Lupul, David Clarkson lay. The move would free up enough cap space to give Samsonov the raise he deserves and give the Leafs some much needed cap relief. Also, with how well Joseph Woll has played during his time in Toronto, their tandem might actually improve over this year's tandem as well.
