Jon Cooper gives mind-boggling excuse as to why Tampa lost Games 1 and 2 in Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche absolutely dominated the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final. While Game 1 went to overtime, the scoreboard did not tell the whole story, as the Avs were dominant. The Avs picked up right where they left off, running away with an absolute shelling of the Bolts in Game 2, winning by a touchdown and shutting out the Lightning.

With a chance to put a stop to Tampa's 3-peat and to hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001, Colorado will be looking to replicate their performances from Games 1 and 2 again tonight at home.

Speaking with the media this morning, Lightning Head Coach Jon Cooper blamed the altitude in Denver for costing his team in Games 1 and 2.

You would think after having a few days of practice in Denver prior to Game 1, the Bolts would have been able to adjust to the thinner air. Granted, practicing and playing a game at altitude are two different beasts, but then you'd think that Game 1 would've been the worst game for Tampa, not Game 2.

While both teams will be adjusting to the altitude again for tonight's Game 5, expect the Avs, who are used to the adjustment, to be the faster and more dominant team - at least early on.
