Going into last night's game against the LA Kings, Woll had a 3-1-0 record and even with the 4-1 loss last night, he still boasts a 1.89 GAA and .942 save percentage this season. Following the game, Woll, who always seems to have a smile on his face, win or lose, commented on how getting into so many games this early in the season has helped him.
Though he and Samsonov have appeared in five games each, Woll has been the better of the two by a large margin. Woll, however, doesn't believe that it is his job to lose or that it is Samsonov's to lose. He insists that that they work together and work off of each other to help the team win and that the team will need both of them to have any sustained success - an admirable mindset for such a young goaltender to have.
Woll clearly looks up to the more experienced Samsonov, even though they are just a year apart age-wise. With the Leafs in Boston on Thursday to take on the big, bad Bruins, no matter who gets the start, they'll have to play their best game of the season if they want to have any hope of coming out of Boston with 2 points.
