Holmberg missed Saturday's game against the Bruins with an illness, as did Bobby McMann, who returned to practice today. The illness is likely the same one that caused Auston Matthews to miss last Thursday's game and has seemingly crept through the Leafs' locker room.
Following practice, Sheldon Keefe announced that Holmberg is still battling the unspecified illness, which means he will likely miss a second consecutive game tomorrow night against Florida.
Additionally, Keefe noted that Sandin's absence was attributed to the same illness and not injury related, which is good news. Sandin's absence mean that Jordie Benn will likely draw back into the lineup for tomorrow's game as he was paired with Conor Timmins in practice.
There's still time for tomorrow's lineup to change, so perhaps we shouldn't read too much into things just yet. However, if the illness is a particularly nasty one, we could see Holmberg and Sandin's absences linger on for a few more days.
