We have not heard directly from Dubas, but yesterday he removed all Leaf-related items from his Twitter bio. He changed his location and header and unfollowed three accounts, one of which was the Toronto Maple Leafs. Not to make matters worse, but the only NHL team Dubas follows now is the Leafs' long-time rival in the Ottawa Senators. Could he be waiting for new ownership to be finalized before swooping in and taking Pierre Dorion's job? It's very possible.
Perhaps even more interesting was what he put INTO his bio. Prior to being dismissed in Toronto, Dubas said during his season-ending presser that he would take some time to speak with his family about what comes next, as the year was hard on them, insinuating that he wanted to be a good husband and father first before making a decision on his future, as it also impacted his family. That's why, when he put "Husband & Dad" in his bio, everyone knew it was a shot at Shanahan and the Leafs for letting him go.
While Dubas said that he would either be returning as GM of the Leafs or taking time off, the amount of interest he has garnered since Friday afternoon would make anyone think twice about taking time off - especially if the teams interested are going to give him what he wanted in Toronto; full autonomy.
