Murray was the starter for Sunday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, but had to come out of the game in the late stages of the first period after being inadvertently taken out by Wings forward Lucas Raymond, who lost an edge and slid into the Leafs' netminder, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ice.
At this point, the Leafs have not yet confirmed what Murray's injury is or how long he might be out, but given his history of concussions, that's the obvious concern right now. If he misses another lengthy stretch, this will mark the third time this season that Murray will have suffered a significant injury.
The good news for the Leafs in all of this is that Woll has actually played some excellent hockey for them this season when called upon. In 4 appearances this year, Woll has amassed a 3-1-0 record, accompanied by a sensational .934 SV% and a very strong 2.03 GAA. In his 8 NHL appearances, dating back to last season, he has now posted a 6-2-0 record to go along with a .922 SV% and a 2.40 GAA, which are very strong numbers for a rookie goaltender.
