Last night, during the Sting's matchup with the Barrie Colts, Voit notched a goal and this primary assist on Sasha Pastujov's 2nd period power play goal to cap off an incredible weekend that saw him post 16 points in just 7 games, moving him up to 48 points in just 27 games this season, 11 points over Hamilton's Logan Morrison, who sits 2nd in league scoring behind Voit, the league's scoring leader.
Voit, 19, is on an absolute mission this season. His 48 points is more than half-way to the 80 points he posted last season - in less than half of the amount of games. He's scoring at a 1.78 points per game pace, which puts him in line to rack up 121 points, if he plays all 68 games this season.
Perhaps you'll recall the OHL naming Brennan Othmann the Player of the Month in October, despite Othamnn having played more games and recording less points than Voit. Well, Voit has been overlooked for the honour once again, as November's Player of the Month honours went to London Knights forward Sean McGurn. If that name sounds familiar, it's because he also attended the Leafs' rookie camp back in September. McGurn posted 20 points in 12 games last month. Voit's start to December has him as the early frontrunner for Player of the Month.
With his 20th birthday coming this summer, Voit will be eligible to play in the American Hockey League next season, so I'd imagine that he'll get a look at Leafs training camp next fall before likely beginning his professional hockey career as a member of the Toronto Marlies.
