The NHL is in the midst of their first ever trip to Australia as part of the NHL's Global Series and shortly after midnight last night (Eastern Time), the LA Kings and Arizona Coyotes faced off in Melbourne. While only a pre-season game, there were plenty of young stars in the making in the lineup, including 2022 3rd overall pick, Logan Cooley.

Cooley was a teammate of the Leafs' Matthew Knies at the University of Minnesota last season. He posted 22 goals and 60 points in 39 games in his first NCAA season and there was little doubt after that that he'd turn pro this season.

Last night, Cooley was lined up with Alexander Kerfoot and Jason Zucker to start his first career pre-season game, but midway through second, Cooley showed he didn't need the veteran support. He took a quick pass exiting the Coyotes' zone before darting up the ice and into the Kings' zone where he faked cutting to the middle of the ice before breaking out the spin-o-rama to fake out the Kings' defense before cutting to the net and scoring - while falling.

It was an absolutely ridiculous goal for his first officially unofficial NHL goal and certainly helped the NHL leave its mark in the first visit to Australia.
