Voit was injured during the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in September. Prior to his injury, he was expected to make his pro debut with the Marlies, but not all things go according to plan. Now, loaned out to the Marlies' ECHL affiliate, Voit is certainly putting his best foot forward.
Voit played in 2 games over the weekend and collected 4 assists along the way - all of which were primary helpers. The former 5th round pick from the 2021 NHL Entry Draft has quickly become one of the club's brightest prospects and he should find his way to the Toronto Marlies in short order with how well he is playing.
Voit scored 26 goals and 80 points in 67 games in 2021-22 before exploding for 81 assists and 105 points last year in the OHL. After recovering from an injury and having not played in weeks, his trip to the ECHL seems more like an unofficial conditioning stint then anything else.
After a successful weekend, you'd have to imagine we see Voit making his way to the Marlies by the end of the month. They are currently 4th in the North Division with a 8-7-3-1 record and in need of some additional production. Alex Steeves currently leads the way for the Marlies.with 11 goals and 19 points in 15 games but then it's a steep drop-off to Nick Abruzzese's 14 points in 19 games.
The Growlers don't play again until the 8th, 9th, and 10th of December, so it's entirely possible that he could receive a call-up sooner than later to avoid remaining relatively inactive for the week.
