Timothy Liljegren hadn't seen any game action since game 2 against Tampa in the playoffs last season. He missed all of training camp and the first few weeks of the season recovering from hernia surgery, but finally made his debut last night with the Marlies. He and Jordie Benn (recovering from a groin injury), were loaned to the Marlies on a conditioning stint at the start of the week.

"He looked very comfortable, very calm, was skating very well. His defence through the middle of the rink is one of the best I've ever seen," Marlies Head Coach Greg Moore said following the team's 5-3 win over Syracuse.

Liljegren made his presence felt with a huge open ice hit midway through the third period, but also registered an assist on Danny DeKyser's goal to open the third period. Liljegren was scheduled to be out until November initially and after this weekend's upcoming games with the Marlies, should join the Leafs when they return home to face the Flyers November 2.
