Joseph Woll's time with the Leafs last season was short-lived as he appeared in only 4 games before he was sent back down to the Marlies. Unfortunately, he would injure his shoulder shortly after and required surgery. While recovering, Woll suffered another injury that also required surgery.

It would take Woll a total of 8 months of recovery before he was finally cleared to return to action. Since his return between the pipes for the Marlies, Woll has been on fire. Last night, with a 3-2 win over the Manitoba Moose, Woll set a new Marlies franchise record recording his ninth straight win. He is currently 9-0-0 with 2.22 GAA and a ridiculous .935 save percentage.

Following the recording setting game, Woll was asked if he expected anything like this from his return. "I honestly don't know if I would've even thought about it," said Woll. For the first time in a very long time, the Leafs have plenty of goaltending depth, incase there is an injury to Matt Murray or Ilya Samsonov. While Erik Kallgren was the favourite before Woll's return, it looks like Woll could be the new front-runner.
