Domi played 777 of his 1,020 career NHL games in Toronto, racking up an unfathomable 2,265 penalty minutes as a Leaf. He still sits in 3rd among NHLers all-time in PIMs, with 3,515 total minutes spent in the box over his career Only Tiger Williams (3,971) and Dale Hunter (3,565) finished their careers with more penalty minutes.
Domi was on some very good Leafs teams over the years, but he never managed to do the one thing that everyone who signs in Toronto hopes to do; win the Stanley Cup. Earlier this week, his son Max spoke with the media and revealed that winning was the most important thing to him. He also acknowledged his dad is his biggest supporter and that the only thing that would be sweeter than winning would be winning in a Leafs uniform.
Like his dad, there's no question that Max Domi is going to be a fan-favourite in Toronto with the brand of hockey that he plays. More offensively gifted than his father ever was, Max is a solid playmaking forward, who can play both center and wing. While he won't come anywhere close to his old man in terms of penalty box time, if he can do what he has set out to do and win a championship with the Leafs, there's no question that the 2nd generation NHLer's name will be immortalized in Toronto.
