Kyle Dubas' Leafs team finally got over the hump this season, taking out the 3 time Eastern Conference Champs and 2 time Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning. This was immediately followed by a heartbreaking collapse in Round 2 that effectively destroyed any good will their first trip past the first round in 19 years had built. The Leafs now face tough decisions at all levels of the organization from Shanahan all the way down.
Clearly, Rielly believes in his GM as both a person and as an executive in the NHL. I don't have any argument with Rielly's words here. Dubas did his job and gave them everything they needed to win. At the end of the day, this one is on the players. It will be very interesting to see what Dubas, if he does get extended as he is rumoured to be, will do to get this team over the hump.
