Morgan Rielly lands an awkward hip check on Anthony Cirelli resulting in an injury
The Tampa Bay Lightning are currently up 5-0 over the Leafs, but they may be forced to play the remainder of the game without their second line center, Anthony Cirelli.
Cirelli was injured early in the first period during an odd-man rush for the Bolts that saw Leafs defender Morgan Rielly first dive to block the pass and then get up just in time to lay a bit of a hip check on the Lightning forward. Unfortunately for Cirelli, the two collided close to the end boards and Cirelli went in hard.
We'll see if Cirelli comes back out at some point in the period, but as of this moment he is not on the bench. No announcement has been made yet as to whether or not he's done for the night.
