Per Rick Dhaliwal, Miller will likely get a Kadri type pay bump on his next contract. It's easy to compare these players, both play a strong style of hockey and have shown they can produce big numbers. The unfortunate part for the Canucks is that Miller is two and a half years younger than Kadri and produced at a higher rate this season. He also has a much stronger track record as far as scoring is concerned.
Miller, 29, had a strong showing this year, posting career highs across the board with 32 goals and 67 assists for 99 points in 80 games. Kadri, almost 32, also had a career year, posting 28 goals contributing a career high 59 assists for a total of 87 points, another career high, in just 71 games played.
Miller's absolute FLOOR is now $7M, but we could definitely see the former first round pick land a deal in excess of $8M per season. If the Canucks sit on this and delay any longer, Miller could play his way out of Vancouver this season, forcing a trade at the deadline.
