New Leafs introduce themselves and share their nicknames with Leafs Nation
With every new season comes a bevy of new faces. In the case of the Toronto Maple Leafs, there are 7 new faces - 8, if you include Mark Giordano, who joined the team at the end of last season after being acquired from the Seattle Kraken at the trade deadline.
On Wednesday, ahead of the Leafs' season opener against an Atlantic Division rival Montreal Canadiens, the Leafs released a short video on social media, with each of the new players introducing themselves and sharing the correct pronunciation of their names, as well as the nicknames they've picked up over the years.
The newcomers have already shown some early chemistry with their new Leafs linemates. Denis Malgin played a lot with William Nylander during the preseason and the two appeared to blend really well stylistically. Meanwhile, David Kampf appears poised to have Zach Aston-Reese and Nicolas Aube-Kubel flanking him on the new-look 4th line and we all know about the exploits of Matt Murray and Ilya Samsonov, who form what appears to be quite a formidable tandem. Hopefully they'll be able to continue to find a sustained level of success during the regular season.
