Per Jeff Marek, Domi and the Hawks may have really warmed up to one another in the half-season that Domi has played in Chicago. Marek revealed that the team really likes what Domi brings to the table and that Domi himself may actually prefer to remain in Chicago, rather than to be dealt at the deadline.
I'm sure that most had expected that Domi was originally intending to use the Blackhawks as a bit of a springboard to play some big minutes in all situations and show other teams that he can be a useful player to them on their upcoming playoff runs. However, in playing there, Domi has apparently fallen in love with the city, enjoys playing there and likes the organization. Marek is reporting that Domi's agent and GM Kyle Davidson will discuss their options in the coming weeks.
The Leafs were reportedly one of the teams who made Domi an offer during the summer when he was a free agent. They were likely one of the favourites to make a push for a salary retained Domi at the deadline if he had been traded, but at this point, it seems more likely that he stays in Chicago.
