Pat Maroon shows lack of self awareness with comment about Michael Bunting
Michael Bunting is projected to make his return to the Leafs' lineup for Game 6 of their first round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning after serving a 3-game suspension and spending a game in the press box as a healthy scratch. With the Leafs on the brink of making their first trip beyond the first round in 19 years, Bunting will need to keep himself under control and out of the penalty box. Moreover, he will need to avoid being baited into altercations with the many agitators on the Lightning roster.
One of those agitators, Pat Maroon, gave somewhat of a surprising answer when asked about Bunting's return. The Lightning winger has been in nearly every post whistle scrum, and has started more than his fair share of them. He's also thrown 2 brutal hits from behind in this series, both of which were overlooked by the Department of Player Safety. One would expect someone who plays the way Maroon does to have at least a little bit of self awareness. Evidently, that's expecting too much from him.
"Just leave him alone. We all know what happened. So, if he is in, he's in. Nothing we can do now. We'll figure that out later. Obviously, he's going to be in guys' faces and doing his job, so just gotta stay focused and stay out of stuff." - Pat Maroon on Bunting's return
I can't help but laugh at this quote from the guy who was caught on a hot mic yelling at Mitch Marner that the Lightning were going to "F***ing kill him" earlier in the series. As a matter of fact, the only times I've seen Maroon with his mouth closed have been after each of the Leafs' come from behind OT wins in Games 3 and 4. Here's hoping it ends up closed again by the end of Game 6. As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a Maroon!"
