One player who nobody can criticize is Ryan O'Reilly, who came into Toronto and absolutely embraced everything about playing here and what it meant to be a Leaf. O'Reilly finished the playoffs with 9 points in 11 games, playing primarily on the 3rd line. Now heading into free agency, many were wondering whether or not he'd entertain the idea of coming back. It would appear as though he would.
During the Leafs' season-ending press conference on Monday, O'Reilly spoke with the media and sang the praises of the Maple Leafs organization, which bodes well for re-signing him if both sides liked the fit.
I, for one, would love to see O'Reilly back. He played with pace and intensity in each of the Leafs' 11 playoff games this year and certainly was not the reason why they lost to the Panthers. He does everything the right way and still has plenty of quality hockey left to play in his career. If the price is right, I hope he's back next season.
