It's been a few months full of highs and lows for 2022 4th overall pick Shane Wright, who went from watching his draft stock fall right before his eyes, to being drafted, to attending his first NHL camp and then playing his first NHL game. Perhaps the lowest of the lows was the handful of games he served as a healthy scratch in late October.

Wright has played in just half of the Kraken's games this season, suiting up in 6 of 12 games, and only notching 1 lone assist in an average of 8 minutes of ice time per game, which is a part of the reason for his six healthy scratches this season. Nevertheless, even though his start hasn't been perfect, Wright remains committed to staying in the NHL this season.

"Obviously I want to be here long-term. It's definitely the only goal and where I want to be, and I think that I can be here. I think I can improve, prove to the coaches, prove to my teammates, that I belong here.

"This is where I want to be. This is where I believe I can be. So I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I stay here."

There have been rumours that the Kraken could either send Wright back to the OHL for one more season. The other option was to have Wright sit 5 consecutive games to become eligible for a temporary 14-day loan to the AHL to get him some pro experience in the minors before recalling him. It would appear as though Wright is intent on putting a pin in those plans and wants to prove that the NHL is where he belongs.
