The Leafs may have a new look this season, but the problems of the past showed up for last night's pre-season game against the Canadiens as they blew multiple leads and lost in overtime. The Leafs held 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-2 and 4-3 leads throughout the game before Josh Anderson tied it with 40 seconds left and Nick Suzuki scored just 30 seconds into overtime to complete the comeback for the Canadiens.

The Leafs came out flat, giving up the first goal and first seven shots of the game before surging back and taking control of the game. The Leafs had dominant stretches, but ultimately reverted back to their old ways, unable to hold and protect a lead. Following the game, Sheldon Keefe called out the entire team for their poor performance.

Keefe said that the entire team should leave bitter about the result, regardless of whether it's pre-season or not and called it a "sloppy game". This is the first time Keefe has called out his team under new GM Brad Treliving - though he didn't point the finger at anyone in specific - and one has to wonder if he has more of a leash when it comes to making bold statements under Treliving than he did under Dubas. We will know later today if/when Keefe speaks with the media. My gut tells me, however, that the team knows that he was right about their effort.
