Sheldon Keefe loses it on the referees after another phantom penalty call
With the second period coming to a close, defensemen T.J. Brodie and Mikhail Sergachev were called for coincidental roughing minors, much to the chagrin of head coach, Sheldon Keefe. It didn't help that the score was 4-1 for the Tampa Bay Lightning either.
Keefe definitely had a point to his yelling tirade because Brodie did nothing but receive a punch from Sergachev while he was being held by the referees. Sergachev came from behind with his punch, yet somehow both ended up in the box with 43 seconds left in the period.
Keefe: "You just made that up! You just made that up Chris! You just f--king made it up man! You just f--king made it up! Unbelievable!"
Then Jake McCabe ended up in the penalty box at the end of the period for a cross-checking minor, sending the Lightning to a 4-on-3 power play to start the third period. Thankfully, the Leafs were gamers and were able to come back in the third and force OT.
