Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Kyrou's deal is expected to be similar to that of Thomas, though he didn't specify whether the deal would be higher, lower or equal to his counterpart's deal. Kyrou is entering the final year of a 2-year, $5.6M deal, which carries a $2.8M cap hit.
**UPDATE - The deal has now been finalized**
The Toronto, ON native was drafted by the Blues in the 2nd round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in 173 NHL games so far in his young career. The 24-year-old has racked up 46 goals and 122 points over that span - including a 27-goal, 75-point season in 2021-22.
Like Kyrou, Thomas is entering the final year of his own 2-year, $5.6M deal, with a $2.8M AAV. Thomas has a bit more history in the league, having played in 241 NHL games and racking up 164 points. However, Kyrou's .70 points-per-game is marginally higher than Thomas' .68 points-per-game.
It wouldn't surprise me to see the deals end up as identical 8-year, $65M extensions, but since Kyrou is a winger and Thomas is a center, perhaps we'll see Kyrou's deal come in a hair lower. Either way, it sounds like we'll have the announcement soon.
