According to Nick Kypreos of the Toronto Sun, the Toronto Maple Leafs are close to finalizing their bid to host the NHL's all star game for the first time in over two decades.

This was teased earlier in the season by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, who gleamed that Toronto was heavily interested in hosting the all star game, and that the league felt Canada was deserving of being host. The last Canadian team to host the All Star game were the Ottawa Senators in 2014.

The last time the Leafs hosted the All-Star game, they were represented by Mats Sundin, Dmitry Yushkevich, and Curtis Joseph. At the moment, they'll only be represented by Mitch Marner, but Auston Matthews and William Nylander are up for nomination in the fan vote portion of the All-Star selection.

It would be nice to have more Leafs as a part of the festivities, with the game being in Toronto, but the draw will absolutely be the amass of other NHL superstars. With talent like Connor McDavid, Cale Makar, and Sidney Crosby coming to town, hockey fans in Toronto and the GTA will pour in to see the event in person.
