Tortorella delivers the mother of all quotes regarding Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe amid talk that his job is in jeopardy

A head coach who has never shied away from the media or softened his words for anyone, John Tortorella came to aid of Keefe saying that the Toronto media has been incessantly going after a head coach who has done nothing but great things for the city and the team.

"You guys don't know what he's done for that team... You guys chuck darts at him because you want some results... He's a terrific coach. I hope he jams it to you all, quite honestly." There was one caveat from Torts though.. "Not tonight," he said with a smirk, "but I have a tremendous amount of respect for him."

Not tonight indeed, as the Philadelphia Flyers come into Toronto on the second leg of a back-to-back, one in which they got thoroughly outplayed by the New York Rangers but only lost 1-0 due to the heroics in net from Carter Hart - who fortunately for the Maple Leafs, is not in net tonight.

Keefe and the Leafs had an ugly road trip out west and have since come back with a few days off in between. The media has been hot on the benching of Mitch Marner and the tantrum that followed, the inept offense, and Keefe's ability to turn things around and we're only 10 games into the season.

Most people are in the same boat as Tortorella in that Keefe is a solid coach and that 10 games is relatively early to be pushing the panic button. But the Toronto media is such that when it smells blood in the water, it swims towards it.
