Following a Jake McCabe goal that cut the Canucks lead to one, William Nylander scored his second of the period to even things at three. Nylander picked up a pass from Morgan Rielly in stride before beating Thatcher Demko short-side as he entered the Canucks' zone. The goal caught long-time play-by-play announcer Joe Bowen by surprise, as you can hear in his voice, leading to an epic play call.
Not only did the goal tie the game, but it was also the 200th of Nylander's career. Nylander's two-goal period marked his first two goals since January 7th against the San Jose Sharks, a span of six games for the once red-hot Swede. Unfortunately it wasn't enough as Nylander and the Leafs fell 6-4 to the NHL leading Canucks and now fall to 1-2-0 on their current four-game road trip, with Seattle on deck tonight to close out the trip.
Shoutout to @LeafsJelly for his work in dubbing the Joe Bowen, Jim Ralph audio over the video replay.
