"For about two weeks Auston Matthews was kept off the ice and away from the media. His injury was simply labeled as day to day and an upper body injury, some media members swore Matthews had a concussion but Leafs head coach Mike Babcock refused to comment on the situation at all. Friday morning Matthews participated in his first full practice since the injury and finally gave a tiny bit of insight into what exactly happened to him while at the same time not giving up too much. «I collided with Morgan . . . the next day I was feeling weird,» Matthews said after his workout Friday morning. «I went through the concussion protocol and you take that pretty seriously.» «What was I feeling? … Concussion symptoms, but I won't go further than that.»The information only coming out two weeks later has made many reporters question why the Leafs just didn't release the information earlier. Regardless, even if Matthews was "feeling weird" then, he seems to be back to his normal self. «I feel good. It feels good to get back on the ice with the guys.» If Matthews can't go on Saturday, he'll likely make his return to the lineup next Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes in Phoenix, his home state.
