"The Toronto Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner remain in a standoff regarding contract negotiations and now training camp is just two days away. We've heard plenty of chatter regarding what's going on and it definitely doesn't sound like it's from a lack of effort on the Leafs' side. Top NHL insider Bob McKenzie is back on the scene with training camps around the league starting and he gave an update regarding the Marner situation this morning. McKenzie reports that the Leafs have offered Marner contracts of both seven and eight years worth $11million a season. However since it isn't Matthews money, Marner doesn't want anything to do with it and he also wants to become UFA like Matthews in the next 5 years. To make matters worse, McKenzie says it's pretty hard to see Marner signing unless he gets exactly what he wants.
