The Toronto Maple Leafs and President Brendan Shanahan made a huge announcement on Monday. The team has decided that general manager Lou Lamoriello will not hold the position and title next year. Rumours had started to circulate at the end of the season that Lou would be pushed out of the position however stick around in a different role. Next up will likely be Kyle Dubas or Mark Hunter, of course Shanahan could always pull a rabbit out of his hat and name somebody from outside the organization, however it would be shocking. Here's the statement released by Shanahan this morning:"Three years ago, Lou and I agreed on a contract that would see him serve as General Manager of the Maple Leafs for three years and then transition to Senior Advisor for the following four years. This morning I informed Lou that I was not going to deviate from that course of action. I will now focus all of my attention towards making a decision regarding our next GM. "
