Calle Jarnkrok's future in Toronto has been revealed and it may have significant implications for the Leafs come the trade deadline, according to one Leafs reporter.

The veteran Jarnkrok has missed the entirety of the 2024-25 season thus far with a lower-body injury that was suffered during training camp.

As they have been all season, the Leafs were very vague about the nature of the 33-year-old's injury, but in early November it was revealed he was dealing with a sports hernia.

In mid-November, the former second-round pick underwent surgery for the sports hernia and was listed as 'month-to-month. Eight or so weeks removed from surgery, and Jarnkrok appears no closer to a return as there have been no reports of him skating thus far.

However, on Wednesday's edition of 'The Steve Dangle Podcast' Adam Wylde revealed that Jarnkrok is in the Leafs' plans for this season, and he also addressed how Jarnkrok's return may impact the Leafs' trade deadline plans.

"I asked about Jarnkrok and the plan is for him to play. So they are going to get a center and what will be interesting is when Jarnkrok comes back, that makes him a winger, but he can move to center should they get an injury in the playoffs."

While there is still no timeline for his return to action, when he does return, Jarnkrok's ability to play anywhere in the lineup will give Craig Berube a handful of additional options and will prevent Brad Treliving from having to shell out additional assets for a depth winger.
