The Toronto Maple Leafs will enter the 2018-19 season with plenty of people ready to criticize their defense once again. While Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas gave the offense a bit of a facelift, the defense is absolutely the same minus Roman Polak. Morgan Rielly continues be the leader and premier defenseman of the group, while the rest have some question marks attached to them.Free agency is pretty much done with the majority of players left likely having to sign a PTO, which makes you wonder, will the Leafs bring back a familiar face? The TipOfTheTower blog wonders if it's time the Leafs give 30 year old Cody Franson a shot to make the team. Franson earned a contract last year with the Chicago Blackhawks but ended up spending the end of the season in the AHL. The Leafs are a completely different team compared to the one Franson last played for in 2014-15, and while he's nothing like the player he was then, he can still put up some reliable minutes on a third pairing and give 37 year old Ron Hainsey a bit of a rest during the season to have him healthy for the playoffs. Would you like to see Franson back with the Leafs?
