The talk of the Toronto Maple Leafs targeting a defenseman at the trade deadline continues to grow as we get closer to the February 26th date. We've heard all kinds of names thrown around including Ian Cole, Erik Gudbranson and even New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh. While all those names bring something different to the table, NHL insider Darren Dreger mentioned on TSN 1050 Friday that he wouldn't be shocked if the Leafs are in contact with the Columbus Blue Jackets in regards to defenseman Jack Johnson. The 31 year old veteran defenseman requested a trade just awhile back as he's ready to hit free agency and isn't sure that he's a fit with Columbus anymore. The trade could actually make sense with the Leafs and general manager Lou Lamoriello not willing to part with much at the deadline. With Johnson having requested a trade and likely not to sign an extension with the Blue Jackets, the Jackets won't exactly have the upper hand in negotiations with any team. The Jackets won't get a package in return for Johnson, they'll either get a draft pick or a depth roster player.Would you give up a 2nd round pick for Johnson?
