Treliving has had a busy offseason, with the primary focus being to strengthen the blueline and help solidify the crease. The Maple Leafs did that by signed veteran defenders Chris Tanev and Oliver Ekman-Larsson to multi-year contracts and adding Stanley Cup winning goalie Anthony Stolarz to augment Joseph Woll. Treliving also hired a new head coach in Craig Berube and replaced much of their coaching staff.
On Thursday's edition of the "Leafs Morning Take" podcast with Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill, their guest, Dallas Eakins, was asked about the changes Treliving has made this summer. He took some time to praise Treliving for his efforts.
Eakins believes Treliving is building a team that is well-equipped to excel in the playoffs. He also expressed confidence that Berube is the perfect coach for the Maple Leafs, noting that Berube's winning pedigree will be a significant asset.
Eakins added that Berube's ability to remain focused on the team, without being swayed by the demands of the Toronto market, will be beneficial.
With the new additions this season, the Leafs seem to have undergone a significant cultural shift, now led by new captain Auston Matthews. The anticipation is building and Leafs Nation is eager to see how these changes will impact the team as the season approaches.
