A large number of fans and analysts weren't happy that Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello didn't land any defensive help at the deadline. This has helped add some extra question marks to Lamoriello's future as general manager. The topic was up for discussion during Saturday's edition of "Headlines" on Hockey Night in Canada. Nick Kypreos stated that after the Washington Capitals signed their GM to an extension, it left just Lamoriello and Detroit's Ken Holland as the only GM's without contracts next year. Elliotte Friedman stepped in to say that he wasn't sure that Lamoriello's contract was expiring and believes there's still term on his contract but Lamoriello could be moved to another position within the organization. Chris Johnston chimed in and said there was whispers of a meeting during the summer in which Lou's future was laid out. "But there have been whispers out there that going back to last summer, there was a meeting where it was stated out loud in a group setting that this would be Lou Lamoriello's last season as the Leafs' general manager, perhaps transitioning to some other role, which explains what you're reporting, having a couple more years on his deal."
Do you think Lou will still be GM at the start of next season?
