"The Toronto Maple Leafs captaincy has been the subject of much conversation over the last couple of weeks. All speculation comes down to two players, Auston Matthews and John Tavares. Matthews being the future of the Maple Leafs and franchise player, while Tavares comes in as a new leader and established elite talent in the league who was the captain of the New York Islanders. Defenseman Morgan Rielly is the only alternate captain leftover from last season with both Tyler Bozak and Leo Komarov both walking during free agency. Matthews has made it clear that he'd more than welcome the opportunity to become the Leafs' captain, now it was Tavares' turn to chime in. While at the NHL Player Media tour in Chicago, TSN's Frank Seravalli reports that Tavares says he would be "completely comfortable" not wearing the "C" for the Leafs to start the season. Whenever and whoever the Leafs pick will have his and the whole team's support. What do you think of Tavares' comments?
