Josh Leivo Comments On Trade Demand.
"It's been the talk of the town ever since the story broke over the weekend, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Josh Leivo has reportedly requested a trade. The 24 year old has only played 12 games so far this season after re-signing with the Leafs for one year during the summer, not exactly what he was hoping for. Leivo's agent said he loves the Leafs, but at the same time he came to play and not watch the team play from the press box. Leivo himself spoke to the media on Monday and basically said the same as his agent. "I just want to play hockey. I do want to play for the Maple Leafs, that's why I signed another year. But at the same point I just want to play, right?"
"I still want to be here. I just got to get in the lineup. Twenty games in two years, it's not enough ... I just need to play."It's clear that Leivo isn't happy, and it's gotten to the point where he won't accept an AHL conditioning stint, he wants to play NHL hockey. "I've played enough in the AHL; I want to play in the NHL now."
