Without a doubt if the Toronto Maple Leafs want to have any kind of success in the playoffs, they'll have to add to their blueline. Where exactly that help will come from is anybody's guess, however Pension Plan Puppets brought up a very interesting trade scenario. With some reports claiming Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang is available, would he slot in perfectly right next to Morgan Rielly on the team's first pairing? Now of course there's some warning signs when it comes to Letang including his well documented injury history and his contract if those injuries continue. However his production is undeniable as well, over the last eight seasons Letang ranks second overall in defenseman in points per game behind Erik Karlsson. He's not just a powerplay specialist either, he's put up great production during 5 on 5 action. What exactly would the Leafs trade to give up Letang? Well the obvious need that Pittsburgh has is a third line center first and foremost. That would likely have them asking for Nazem Kadri, however we can all agree that's not going to happen. So PPP suggests a package consisting of both Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk. Both expiring contracts and both filling needs the Penguins have right now. Would you be willing to make a deal like that for Letang?
