On Saturday, as the Leafs prepared to take on the Washington Capitals without captain Auston Matthews, who is missing his fourth straight game, depth forward Steven Lorentz had an unfortunate but hilarious mishap during warmups.
Lorentz managed to get his helmet stuck between two panes of glass in the corner of the Leafs' zone after his usual pre-game ritual of jumping into the glass.
With a little help from Max Domi, who yanked on the helmet a handful of times, it was eventually freed.
However, after warmups ended, the Leafs' ice crew had to remove a pane of glass to dislodge a part of Lorentz's strap that was still stuck between the two panes.
Lorentz has been a staple on a constantly changing fourth line, skating in all 36 games for the Leafs so far this season. The 28-year-old has already doubled his point total from last year with the Florida Panthers amassing 3 goals and 3 assists so far this year. He has also been a key player for the Leafs on the penalty kill.
The Capitals will welcome back Alexander Ovechkin who returns from a broken leg on Saturday.
