"Despite the recent struggles, the Toronto Maple Leafs are having a pretty good overall season. It looks like some of the individual efforts could get rewarded at the end of season. The Pro Hockey Writers Association took votes on all the awards at the half way point. Nobody on the Leafs' finished in first place, but two Leafs' players did finish in the top 3. Defenseman Morgan Rielly finished second in the Norris Trophy voting behind Mark Giordano of the Flames and ahead of Brent Burns of the Sharks. Goalie Frederik Andersen also got some love from the PHWA as he finished in third place for Vezina voting behind Marc-Andre Fleury and winner John Gibson of the Ducks.
