Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll appeared set to return to the lineup as he was recalled following a one-game conditioning stint with the Toronto Marlies over the weekend. As excited as Woll is to get back to playing for the Leafs, and as excited as fans are to see him back, everyone will have to wait a little bit longer.

The Leafs announced this morning that Ilya Samsonov will start tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights with Martin Jones serving as his backup. Samsonov is looking to win his seventh in a row and help the Leafs win their eighth straight.

Samsonov has looked like himself since returning from his development stint in December and January and has won 9 of his past 11 starts. On the season, the 27-year-old former first-round pick is 14-4-6 in 26 games with 2 shutouts to go along with a 3.18 GAA and .883 save percentage. While his GAA and save percentage are still not great, they are far better than they were in the first half of the season.

The Leafs will need Samsonov to hold the fort down tonight as Vegas will likely come out hot tonight as they look to avenge the 7-3 thumping the Leafs handed them last week.
